CV Advice for Educators & Professionals | m2r Education

Your CV is like a shop window – it gives a potential employer a glimpse of your experience and encourages them to invite you for an interview. At m2r Education, we provide guidance to help you create a professional, impactful CV that stands out. You can also download a free CV template from this page.

Key Tips for Crafting the Perfect CV:

Professional Contact Information

  • Include full contact details and use a professional email address (e.g., name@gmail.com)

Include a Headshot

  • A professional photo is recommended as it’s often requested by recruiters.

Keep Formatting Simple

  • Avoid text boxes, tables and complex layouts. Simple CVs are easier to read and update.

Write a Brief Profile

  • Summarise your experience and skills, similar to your LinkedIn or professional social profiles.

Use Bullet Points

  • Recruiters often scan CVs quickly, so concise bullet points make key information clear.

Detail Your Work Experience

  • Company name & dates (including months)
  • Brief overview of the company (one line)
  • Core responsibilities (don’t copy entire job descriptions)
  • Achievements (include figures if relevant to demonstrate impact)
  • Reason for leaving (prevents assumptions that could affect shortlisting)

Include Relevant Keywords

  • Many recruiters use keyword searches to find suitable candidates. Include terms relevant to your role.

Keep it Concise

  • Limit your CV to 2–3 pages. Save in MS Word format, not PDF.

Avoid Embedding & Excess Styling

  • Stick to simple fonts and avoid multiple colours or embedded media.

Self-Review

  • Ask yourself: “If I received this CV, would I want to interview this person?”
